Popayán

I simply remember it as a terrific place where I stayed with a good friend in a hotel on the plaza. I remember the food - eaten by candlelight after the power went out in a thunderstorm - as fantastic. And I’ve often thought if I ever wanted to write a book, a room in that hotel is where I would want to do it.
