worth visiting? by RP

these judgments are all relative to what you are looking for. I enjoyed myself, but the only place I went was to visit my uncle, aunt and cousins, which was my plan. Had a great meal, a very stiff drink and some good times with some lovely people.

This town looks like it's decaying! by brfts2001

I’d never seen so much trash and borded up storefronts until I visited Abilene. What really shocked me was the fact that there are over 100,000 people living here. It seemed more like a town of 45,000. Needless to say, I wasn’t impressed. I’m sure it was alot nicer at one time.

A beautiful place that makes good for quiet internal reflection. by DillonThomas

Being a 21 year old ACU college student you might think that my response would be the typical, “there is nothing to do.”. But I tell you, such a response only shows how unimaginative that many young people can be. If you are stimulated by trees, birds, fresh air, rolling hills, beautiful sunset that seem to have come straight out of a Monet painting, then this is definately the place for you. If you are stimulated by fast paced city life, noise, cars, city lights, parties, nightlife, etc ,etc, then this is not a place for you. Definately try Lake Fort Phantom, i’ll even upload some pics for you to see. It is beautiful and the variance in wildlife is quite diverse while the people are not. Perfect for silence and solitude.

I lived here for 2 months while on internship at West Texas Rehab Center. I don’t plan on ever going back — too hot, too Conservative/Baptist, nothing to do!!! The one upside, good Tex-Mex food everywhere :)

Its a small town in the middle of nowhere, but its easy to get around. Once you know the main streets you really can’t get lost. I used to live in a big city and this is so much easier. There are many things to do like going to the zoo and shopping downtown!
