Lived here for 3 months
I really enjoyed this part of the country—granted, I wasn’t there in the summer, but the people generally were much nicer than in the East Coast. Even if Vegas was 15 minutes away, it didn’t feel like you were in Vegas, so you didn’t have to be in that mood all the time.
What I liked best was that it has very close to many natural areas to do hiking and camping, like Red Rock Canyon, Zion NP, Death Valley NP, Valley of Fire, Grand Canyon NP, Bryce NP and many more

Lake Las Vegas
Technically, it’s in Henderson. And so is The District at Green Valley Ranch. If it’s a choice between Henderson and Las Vegas, flip a coin… a two-headed coin, with heads being Vegas, baby. But let’s not diss this huburb too much. Locals gotta live somewhere.

Born and raised in Henderson
Henderson was great while growing up. I hiked the deserts, climbed the mountains, caught lizards and tarantulas and nearly died of heatstroke at least a dozen times.
Now, it’s an overdeveloped suburb. It’s part of the U.S.’s overdependence on oil and will die a miserable death when gas prices get too high.
The downward spiral: Gas prices skyrocket; Tourism dips; casinos close; unemployment gets high; people move away; housing busts; the half of the county supported by building new housing moves away; houses stand empty.
Another possibility is Water gets scarce and almost the same thing as above happens. Basically, once the self-propelling housing market hiccups, Vegas is going to bust. Big time.

Las Vegas Suburb
Ok place to live, but nothing exciting and nothing to do (especially under 21). Its the desert, after all. Worth a drive through maybe, but looks like any other “normal” suburb
