For SW Missouri, Springfield is a pretty good town. It and Joplin are this area’s saving grace.

I'm moving here :)
This is a great city… well smaller than a city but bigger than a town haha. There’s a lot of history, and always something to do it seems. I’m moving to finish my degree at Drury University, I’m excited to experience small-city life seeing how I’ve been raised in a town of 5,000. It should be interesting!

It’s not a bad place, really. I just hated it because it’s where I grew up. I lived there for almost 20 years of my life.
I couldn’t stand the people, but I lived in a “bad” part of town. There’s stuff to do, it just gets old after being there for so long.

A review of this place
Springfield’s not a bad old town. There are a lot of colleges, coffee shops, book shops, antique stores, wonderful parks, and museums, which make it worth while. I don’t like the weather, though. I don’t like hot, muggy summers and indifferent winters.

A tip I have about this place
wilson’s creek national battlefield is definitely worth checking out, but be sure to get there about an hour or so before closing time (normally 5pm) so you have plenty of time to take the tour. you drive around to 8 different sites around the battlefield.

Times have been tough in this once-prosperous manufacturing city on the east bank of the Connecticut River. But its loyal citizens haven't given in to the consequences of job flight and high unemployment, and there is evidence of redevelopment throughout downtown, with recycled loft and factory buildings standing beside modern glass towers. Springfield remains the most important city in western Massachusetts and has enjoyed some success in attracting new enterprises. Vacationers can pass a few hours or an overnight here, but Springfield is primarily a stop on the way north or south.
