Reno

Really, the only thing that tourists would want in Reno would be the casinos and gambling.

But I grew up there, and love the city with all of my heart for the climate and beauty.

Sorry, to anyone who lives here, but I don’t like Reno.

I lived here for 5 years, through my HS years and a little before and a little beyond. I broke the chains that bound me and I discovered myself in this place. It is memorable, and 2 of my best friends are still near and in Reno. I lived in Sparks, and Reno, and Carson City. A Historic place to visit, as well as made for spending your well earned money.

Very boring. I would go here with my family who are avid gamblers and I never had fun, It’s actually kind of depressing. Sorry locals. :(

I just went there a couple of months ago, and it’s almost shocking to see how much it’s changed. If you’re into casinos and entertainment, this is the place for you. Especially if you don’t have the time or resources to get to Vegas.

It’s a mini Vegas in the making. They’ve spent a lot of money renovating things, and it shows. My favorite casino to visit is the newest one, which used to be the Reno Hilton, it’s now called the Grand Sierra Resort.

I’ve always won money when I played at their casino. Dulce, the celebrity owned italian resteraunt, has great food. Johnny Rockets is also available to those who are looking for something affordable, but don’t want to sacrifice quality.

It’s a little out there all alone on Second St., so if you want something closer to the action downtown. Harrah’s is a good place to start. I’ve gotten free rooms here, so I almost always stay here. The rooms are clean and if you’re comped for it, I can’t see how you would turn it down.

Another great place to stay is the Atlantis. Most casinos offer similar things, what sets them apart are the resteraunts, the shows, and the rooms.

Harrah’s and Atlantis both have great rooms, but i do slightly prefer Atlantis. As far as food, nothing beats the Grand Sierra in my book. Harrah’s has provided the best entertainment. Whether you want something family friendly or maybe even a little bit naughty. If only some big time attractions were added, then it would be as good as Vegas.

I lived in Truckee for 7 years and would drive into Reno for Costco runs and clothes, but not much else. The only thing I liked was Circus circus (I was around 10yrs old). It really isn’t much to look at unfortunately. If your into gambling go to Vegas, if your outdoorsy, go to Tahoe. But Reno isn’t that exciting.

Reno is my current shopping mecca! Since the small (17,000 including 10,000 prisoners!) town I currently live in has NO shopping, I go to Reno for groceries, clothes, plants, anything! Usually about once a month. I never thought I could spend a whole day doing nothing but driving and shopping, but hey, it’s my life now! LOL

In some ways reno is a cooler place to visit than vegas. Granted it’s smaller and doesn’t get the cool shows, but the Sands and Circus Circus are still doing good buisness in Reno! it’s a bit like visiting what Vegas used to be… Back in the early 90s. If there were only a place like what vegas way in the 40s…

If you’re looking for a good gambling and party town, skip Reno and go to Las Vegas. If you’re looking for good outdoor activities, visit Truckee or Tahoe instead.
