Hialeah

I have a love-hate relationship with Hialeah. I’ve never lived anywhere else and thought that moving away from here would be a great change. Well, I haven’t moved, yet (that’s going to happen next year), but I’ve spent a lot of time in other cities and now I work in Boca Raton. And spending most of my days surrounded by English-only speaking people is a bit of a culture-shock that I don’t like too much. Hispanic people, of mostly any nationality are just plain friendlier, kinder, and humble. Yeah, tempers can flare more amidst Hispanics, but so can humor. There really is no other place like this that I’ve been to. I hope that the city gets better over time, improving recreational areas and road conditions. It’s definitely worth a visit if you are in the Miami area. Even just a drive down 49th street can give you a great sampling of the city.

If you’re not into dollar stores, pan con bistec, horrible traffic, bad fads, cortaditos, floods, canals, croquetas, guayaberas, yelling, heat and humidity, having a good time, or other ridiculous yet hilarious latin antics, don’t come here.
You’ll miss it once you’re gone. When you live here, you take it for granted.

my dad grew up here but it’s gone down hill in the last few years, the crime rate has gone up, etc. but it holds a lot of memories for my family.
