Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 6 months ago

    Worth visiting!

I’ve been spending summers in St. Pete for all my 26 years and it’s my home away from home. Love everything from the Dali Museum to John’s Pass. There’s nothing more beautiful then a St. Pete Beach sunset.

I ate at a cafe called the Bohemian and bought cute bowls with legs on them at Retro World. Good enough for me.

For the first time since leaving Santa Cruz, I feel at home. The Old Northeast is funky and unpretentious with 100s of bars/restaurants/clubs with art and music every night of the week. I love it here!

How this place changed my life  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I had some guys help me take my boat via the waterways from Nashville, TN to St Petersburg, Florida in December 2006. I was not acquainted with a living soul when i arrived there.
I got on-line and looked for dance clubs. They have numerous tea dances in the afternoons with live bands playing ballroom numbers. They often give a lesson before the dance. In the six months I was there I learned basic steps and loved every minute of dancing. I lived there for six months and sold the boat and returned to Nashville. I met tons of guys and ladies who just want to be friends and we stay in touch. The experience made me know I can make it on my own. I was widowed in March 2006, having been married all my life. Now it is MY time and I am loving it.

    Not worth it!

    i hate the mayor.
i hate the police and thier showoff 40mph unicycle things.
i hate baywalk and the annoying 14yr olds argueing about pg movies.
i hate the pier and the balogna smelling elevators that im surprised dont cost money to use them.
i hate the fake gangster children.
    i hate the gang fights.
i hate the ICP [trashy people who dress as clowns] who go to the “ROCK” downtown.
i hate the scene kids who go to “The Garage’s parking lot” and the “U Bench” and drink and fight with passer-by-ers.
i hate the security who tell me i cant sit on a park bench.
i hate the homeless hating cops (who destroy thier tents) -look it up.
i hate how they buff all the street art and graffiti and leave us no urban culture, and give us pelican and seagull paintings.
i hate the small crowded beaches.
i hate downtowns drunks who sit outside of the shady bar “DETROIT” next to Jannus Landing.
i hate all the racist people here.
i hate the mall-goers who sit outside between the dillards entrace and borders corner.
i hate how police always judge teens, instantly as criminals here; ie. “Whatchya doin’ ova der? huh? huh? smokin’ weed i bet”
i hate the “to rich for you” people.
    i hate the condos downtown.
    i hate the stereotypes.
i hate how tourists dont know st. pete. //until now.

i love the alley ways downtown.
i love the graffiti ive done [past time].
i love the grit in the bums teeth during conversation at williams park, where ofcoarse afterwards you spare change anyways.
i love the underground shows at cafe bohemia and the globe.
i love haircuts at starbooty, [i loved the original store more].
i love riding my fixie [bike].
i love my girlfriend lily, and her art.
and im going to love moving to brooklyn.HAHAHAHAHa

    seriously, saint petersburg is hell.

A tip I have about this place  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

Sunsets are spectacular! Large red-orange ball of flames dipping slowly over the Gulf of Mexico. Gentle Gulf breeze in your hair as you sit out on the sand and watch the days-end sailboats drift by. Beautiful!

My favorite place in the world  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I was born there, but unfortunately with my father being in the military I had to move away. I always go back and visit and it will always be considered my home.
