great place to be from

I’m developing an idea for an after school program whereby registered kids would come from their school to the “cultural center.” There they can either work on their homework with a supervising tutor, play games, have a snack, or socialize with each other. They can also register to participate in enrichment activities. We have SciTech interactive center, the Schingoethe Museum of Native Americans at Aurora University, The Aurora Fire Museum, several art galleries, 3 theater stages that have offered or want to offer theater classes for kids, a yoga center, martial arts classes, the YWCA and YMCA and the GAR museum among other attractions.
This program would be a godsend for families who either can’t or would rather not spend their afternoons chauffering their kids around when they could be either working or getting a start on dinner.

There isn’t a whole lot here for being Illinois’ second largest city. There is a lot of ghetto and such, but there are cool people if you look. And we’re getting entire city wi-fi! dances
