Cultural Festivals  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

In the Spring and summer the true international flavor of this wonderful place comes alive and every weekend there is a festival featuring or sponsored by one of the 60 plus cultures who call Arlington home!

Worth visiting!

i was blown away. very somber. they are extremely respectful here. there’s not any GUM chewing in certain places. i love it. i found it interesting though, that some of gravemarkers have two names on them: one on the front and one on the back. did anyone else notice this? definitely see this place. and also the tomb of the unknown solider.

Worth visiting!

when i was a senior our girl scout troop (all two of us that were left) went to DC for the weekend after we graduated from high school.

i had never been despite growing up in virginia beach so since there were only two of us, we went everywhere

i dont think ive seen so many people at a cemetary before, but it was neat to think that such historic figures are all in one spot, plus its a good hike if you see the whole thing

A tip I have about this place  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

I got a good deal on those mini “crystal” skylines of D.C. at Pentagon City mall here. Cheaper than when I was in D.C. or at my hotel’s gift shop, at least. Nice mall, good food court, and accessible by subway.

Worth visiting!

I live here. I can throw a ball into the cemetery from my front yard and walk my dog by Henderson Hall where the bugle blows for flag ceremonies every morning and evening. The Netherlands Carillion bongs out the hour like churchbells. It is a strange place, both sad yet vibrant and alive.

There is an intense reverence here.

This place is one of the saddest places I've ever been.  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

I couldn’t stop crying. That aside it made a huge impression. I strongly recommend a visit.

Not much outside of the cemetery  — 2 years ago

Not worth it!

The cemetery is worth a quiet, respectful visit, whenever school is NOT in session.

Other than that, Arlington is just alot of headquarters of national groups, strip malls, etc. For the quaint colonial feel, go to Alexandria. For a quick lunch at a chain restaurant on a metro stop, go the Arlington/Pentagon City/Crystal City route.

My mom lived in Arlington for eight years, so I spent way too much time there. It’s a neighborhood/workinghood type place, with normal life going on and nothing extraordinary about it (outside of the cemetery). Not somewhere I would waste time in when I could be touristing in DC.

Ryan's Trader's Forge  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

I was here in January for Ryan’s Trader’s Forge. I got to also see the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and the Veteran’s Memorial Wall. Too bad I wasn’t there longer to visit some more.

Missed it.  — 2 years ago

We went to Washington D. C. years ago and missed visiting the Arlington National Cemetary. Big mistake. Won’t happen next time.
