I admit, there are many, many times that I am embarassed to be from Oklahoma. Also, my husband and I are planning to move east as soon as we finish our Bachelor’s degrees. As I have said many times, Tulsa would be a wonderful city, if it wasn’t in Oklahoma. Tulsa as a whole can be very backward, conservative, old-fashioned, and even opressive. However, there are hidden gems to be discovered all over the city and some not so hidden as well. Downtown has stunning architecture and it would be easy to spend hours walking around down there looking at the intricate and unique buildings. The Tulsa Ballet is wonderful, the zoo is awesome, and Cherry St. and Brookside can almost make you feel like you live in a normal city. The Cherry St. farmer’s market is amazing! And I have to say when I do leave, I will sorely miss the lovely little coffee shops, Saffron, Gypsy and Shades of Brown.
