Virginia Beach

Not only did Regent University welcome us with about 5 police officers to each Rider (and there were about 30 of us!) BUT the town was just as friendly! Things were okay on Virginia Beach as long as you don’t mind being called a faggot!

It’s a nice beach with a throwback seventies feel. We were there yesterday (6 April) and it was great. It was rainy and windy, but the waves were coming in making for a cool experience.

We ate at Abbey Road, a Beatles restaurant knockoff. The food wasn’t particularly good, but we didn’t expect it to be.

Despite the tacky shops and other assorted kitsch, Virginia Beach didn’t feel like a tourist trap. Maybe it’s because it was off season, but I really liked it.

Can’t wait to go back when it is warmer.

It was freaking cold! Don’t go there in the spring….

I have lived here my whole life. If you love the beach and tourists, then this is your place. There are a few unique things here. Not alot of culture, but alot of history. The mueseums are generic and not a lot of good musicians come here on tours. There is not a very good sense of community, or any defining universities. It’s an average place with moderately clean beaches and one or two state parks. Chick’s beach is the least crowded and has a 1950’s feel.

It’s cool to see the strip but. . . the really good stuff is away from the strip! It is way prettier away from the strip.

VA beach was a big part of my childhood. Definitely a family-oriented beach.

This is my hometown, where I was born and lived my whole life. Well, besides college and up until April of 2007

I went with my freat grandma to visit my dad, when I was six.
