I moved to Charlotte in the Fall of 2006 and love it here. People are very nice compared to where I used to live and everything seems a lot more youthful and inspirational. Thriving even :) Like I can pick up anywhere in Charlotte and make / do something productive.

The area by the convention center has little to recommend it—except for Ratcliffe on the Green, a stellar restaurant in a 1920s era converted florist building (with original Tiffany glass in the windows). The eight-piece quail bucket appetizer is worth going for again and again.

Kate23 asks,
“ Is Charlotte a good place to raise a family? What are some of the good suburbs within 30mins of the city? Is mostly conservative or liberal? Is it known as a "party city"?”
