I love living in Portland
I have spent most of my twenty-two years in Portland, and I love it here. I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather live, to be totally honest. It’s nice because it’s not too big and overcrowded, but it’s not so small that you get bored. It’s pretty clean, the people are mostly friendly, there is a ton of culture and really neat resources available to take advantage of, no matter what your interests are. I get considerably irritable with all the nut ball left-winged environmentalists, as well as the flamboyant and boisterous gay community, and especially with the damn bicyclists who think they are motorized vehicles. But none of those things are the end of the world. Portland is awesome in spite of its psychotic “green” cult. Lots of nice restaurants, pretty diverse populations, very trendy, maybe a little snooty sometimes, cool museums and lots of outdoorsy stuff if that’s your thing. I don’t mind the weather here, since I prefer to stay out of the sun. It seems to me like people exaggerate how much and how often it actually rains here. It’s no worse than Seattle. But I think it’s much nicer overall.

Love Portland
I used to live in Portland until I was about 9 years old and have visited nearly every summer afterward. It’s an absolutely gorgeous city with a lot to offer, and about an hour out of the city you can enjoy a hike along the Multnomah Falls, the slopes on Mt. Hood, and the beautiful rocky Oregon coastline.

A review of this place: Everything And More
Before I went to Portland for a week this past June, I asked everyone I knew for their opinion and their recommendations. Overwhelmingly, the reviews were positive. It was described as a very clean, safe city with fantastic public transportation and a quirky, green culture. The week I was there I saw the Starlight Parade (prior to the Rose Festival), the Rose, Japanese and Chinese Gardens, Powell’s Books, and most of downtown. The entire city is accessible via the light rail, which is free in the city center and inexpensive outside it. Overall, I had a very positive experience!

A review of this place: For those thinking of coming to PDX
It’s a great little city with a mellow vibe. The community is tight-knit, there’s really only 1-2 degrees of separation. It’s of course beautiful in the summertime, but the winters can be long and dreary!
It’s really comfortable here, think of woolen sweaters and cozy fireplaces. I’ve had people from overseas tell me that Portland is the one place they would live in the US.

A review of this place: Home
I’ve lived in and around the Portland Metro area for almost my life. I love it here. In my experience it is what you make it. So if you don’t plan to try much or do anything it won’t really seem like much to you, but if you make an effort to go out and try things you’ll have fun.
I suggest checking out the hardcore/metal music scene, if you’re into it. A couple venues that actively have shows are: The Satyricon, The Hawtorne Theatre, and Rock n’ Roll Pizza.
