Denver

I flew into Denver airport and noticed as I was landing that I couldn’t see any mountains. I assumed because of Denver’s reputation as “mile high” that they would immediately visible. As I was driving downtown I crested a freeway exit and . . . BAM, there they are, the Rockies, taking up all my attention. I was looking at the sun setting behind the peaks and totally missed my freeway exit.

i really would like to do the denver marathon on october..but just being who i am…a runner, marathoner, triathlete..someone who just enjoys being outside, denver just strikes me as home…but what do people in denver do????

My good friend Chelsea is living in Denver, and I can’t wait to see her and ski on the Rockies!

When I was 15 years old I was Sent to the National Jewish Hospital for asthma issues. It was not a very pleasent exsperience.

The people are so friendly and laid back. A few things I’ll always remember:

- crazy geography – flat to the north and east, mountains to the west.

- they still smoke in the bars. Yick!

- There are more ladies frequenting the titty bars than men.

- Lots of hot single girls at sporting events in packs. Fun and friendly.

- Navigating around is very hard, the streets don’t make sense.

- Everyone tells you the nightlife action is at 16th street mall, but it is actually on Blake.

- Lots of people with Blue eyes.

- Lots of guys with goatees.

The city is great and all, but if you’re in Denver, you’re probably in it for the mountains (or should be). They are magnificent, and although you can see them from Denver, I highly suggest taking the drive out to the Arapaho area and exploring the many trails that lace the Rockies.

Want to go back, and stay at Browns Hotel. Great food, enjoyed the culture, but not sure about the politics.

So many people told me that Denver wasn’t worth visiting that I was a bit worried. But we had a blast! The traffic was horrendous driving in—and that’s coming from an Atlanta native, so I know bad traffic!

The city, though, was wonderful! To the west was the spectacular views of the mountains. Breathtaking! And all around was interesting architecture, and lots of public art.

Byers-Evans House

Parking is hard downtown, and you have to pay…except after 6 pm and on Sundays, when you can park in the metered spots for free. But it’s worth it. So many beautiful buildings, and statues everywhere. I will be going back; I just don’t know when…
