Milwaukee

My hometown. Far away but far from forgotten.

This is one of those cities where you go, don’t complain, find it all nice, but don’t really want to go back. I have nothing bad to say about it, but I can’t quite say it’s amazing.

I did a blog entry with pictures of my last trip to Milwaukee, which included my trip to the Milwaukee Public Museum.

I’d like to stay overnight in Milwaukee and hit the gay bar scene.

I was little. I remember the rusty cars with holes in them kind of scared me. I thought they were sick.

Visited my mom’s family. Totally different than California where I’m from.

It’s worth going if you actually live in Wisconsin…but I can’t imagine why someone would come to Wisconsin if you don’t live here.

i live in milw and go to the fest every year. the best way to put it is . where can you go and see great bands, kid rock metallica etc for free.

This week I’m on vacation and staying with some friends for the weekend in Illinois. They live pretty much equidistant from Chicago & Milwaukee. Today we drove to the latter. It was a fun outing with a stop at The Public Market in the Historic Third Ward, a walk along the river, a beer at The Safe House and an excellent lunch at Mikey’s on Cathedral Square.

We walked around and Water Street, went up to the lake and visited the amazing Milwaukee Art Museum and the War Memorial and generally enjoyed the city.

People were friendly and approachable everywhere. The weather was unbeliveable – hot and sunny and 80 in early October! We were going to have dinner at Karl Ratzsch’s but we were too full from lunch so we headed home for the night.

that is why i went to see the hives and the roots! great city has a great Persian restaurant that serves shisha at the bar.

Living here was the first time I lived totally alone. It was a great experience. Great people, culture, easy to navigate and not expensive to live.

I would totally move back.

I was born and raised in the heart of the city until I was 18. It will always be a part of me and I try to go back often.
