I live here right now. Its rather nice.
Its very confusing and VERY easy to get lost in.

Avoid Columbus Georgia. The people there are racist rednecks who will kill you just as look at you straight. I LIVED there for 20+ years, and I HATED it! Nothing to do, nothing to see, and Columbus HATES teenagers by banning cruising! Columbus city officials closed all of the popular soldier hangouts (like the massage parlors and the lingerie shops), cleaned up the strip joints and basically ruined what was a good little Southern town. Columbus is no more than a military rathole, and I encourage you—-don’t even visit, much less live there! Bypass Columbus (and it’s rathole neighbor Phenix City, just across the muddy waters of the Chattahoochee) and head north to Atlanta, east to Savannah (don’t bother with Macon) or just bypass the state altogether if you can. Visit Tennessee, Florida or even my home here in TEXAS! THE SOUTHERN CHRISTIAN BIBLE BEATERS OWN THIS TOWN! DON’T GO THERE IF YOU’RE BLACK!

COLUMBUS GEORGIA—-ONE HELL OF A PLACE TO CALL HOME! (NOT!)

This coming weekend is the weekend in November when the protesters come to this town and protest and leave all kinds of trash and literature on the streets near Fort Benning entrances.
For those that live and work at the base it is an inconvinience to and from the base because of the large crowds shouting at the passing vehicles and pissing the drivers and passengers off to the point that you almost want to run them over.
The “God Bless Fort Benning” event is also going on this weekend.

This event was started to basically keep those who hate the protesting crowds from causing trouble to them.

Why are the protesters here? To protest the School of the Americas…no longer in existance.

What do the soldiers training here and stationed here think?
They don’t like it and think that they are being mocked…also the family members feel the same way.
Thats why you will find tons of soldiers and family members at the “GBFB event” on Saturday the 18th. It is at the Civic Center. It starts at noon.
There will be bands, including hard-core bands, food, fun, and many many soldiers…most of them basic trainees helping to set up and cleaning up.This is a good chance for those of us who are not protecting our country to say Thanks for the hard work that they do for us.
The annual motorcycle rally will also take place here.
