Cuernavaca

Just loved it! I went to school here one semester. What a blast.

I stayed there for three months the summer I found out I was pregnant with my firstborn. I returned for another summer when he was 18 months old with the intent to stay forever. In the end, it wasn’t possible to get permission to work legally in Mexico and the punishments were harsh if one got caught. I adore the city. The weather is perfect, the people are friendly and loving. When I die, I have no desire to go to heaven or hell, but I want to return to Cuernavaca, sitting every afternoon in the courtyard of Las Mananitas, sipping pina coladas.

The city itself isn’t incredible… but the weather is beautiful and it is a great place to study Spanish and also to start from to takes trips to other parts of Mexico… it’s a short bus ride to places like Mexico City, Taxco, Teotihuacan and Acapulco.

Good times.

I spent a month in Cuernavaca studying spanish at the Cuahnahuac school (that may be spelled wrong…) but I loved it and want to go back so much!

My grandmother owned a house in Cuernavaca for the last 20 years or so, and I’ve been down there lots of times, last time over Christmas 2005.

There’s not a lot to do in the zocalo, that’s true, but if you’ve got a car or are willing to take a bus, it’s a good central point for a base of operations to such places as Tepotzlan, Taxco, Xochicalco. There are also many good restaurants.

Excellent people and insane drivers but such a great place!

I DROVE THROUGH this town after living for 2 months in Saltillo. This place is an lush green refreshing oasis. I want to go back.
