    Not worth it!

Driving thru Mexicali nearly caused me to have a connniption. I wasnt even the one driving! I did not get out of the car here, so perhaps it is not fair of me to even rate this place. But let me tell you, NY has nothing on this place. It was a total free for all. With taxi drivers handing out leaflets while driving. panhandlers in wheelchairs in the traffic lanes, people walking through cars at redlights to sell newspapers. Oh and the lights, they are crazy! It was a little hectic because we were trying to keep up with the motorcycles in our group and not get seperated, and I was scared to death for them.

    Worth visiting!

I stayed in a motel in Calexico California, which is just across the border from Mexicali, when I visited this Mexican city. You can see across the boarder very easily thru the various forms of fencing seen between the cities.
Mexicali is a HUGE city! I had the chance to experience the city while there to visit an internationaly know doctors clinic for people with Asthma.
When you first cross the boarder, be prepared to lace your way thru crowds of people trying to sell you everything from ponchos to “Gold” jewlry, and taxi rides.
I might caution a traveler to be cautious and go in pairs or groups. While I was there the Mexican police at the border caught a woman in a van trying to cross back into the USA with a dead womans body. She tried to pass “Her” off as asleep, but when the border patrol officer insisted she sit up and show identification, they discovered the horrifying truth. The body was of a white woman. She had been killed and after removing her internal organs, the people responsible had “Packed” her with drugs. In telling this, I want to make sure everyone understands that I am only relaying what I learned about this while I was there in the city. This occurance both shocked & horrified people from both sides of the border. I am in no way saying this is what a traveler should expect when visiting here… I am saying that there is safety in numbers when traveling anywhere in this world. I met some wonderful people during my visit to this city, and I in no way want to portray the mexican people in a bad light. I feel sure that someday I will visit this City again. Hopefully next time I will have time to visit Plaza De Toros. :0)
