Mexicali

For the occasion of finding our 2500th geocache, my husband Jonas and I decided we’d pop over for Mexico for it. Not intending to drive our rental vehicle to Mexico, we parked in Calexico, CA and walked across the US/Mexico border to Mexicali. There we hired an agreeable taxi driver to take us a few miles out of town to Laguna Salada. He seemed a little confused as to why we were so interested in driving out to some desolate salt flats (crazy Americans), but happily obliged. Afterwards, he drove us to El Sarape Restaurant, where he and Jonas shared a beer while waiting for our takeout. We walked back across the border with 2500 geocaches and our tasty takeout — that’s our Mexicali adventure!

Todo esta desolado y desertico, parece otro mundo, pero fuimos al rancho de mi tio, Santa Monica, e hicimos carne asada, hacia mucho frio y viento asi que yo me la pase en el carro leyendo ^^

I have family who live in Mexicali and around there. I have my grandparents who live in the 57. And my aunt who lives in San Felipe. Straight up Cachanillas!!!!!

This is where my family live. This is where i go when i need to center myself and when i want to relive my childhood.

In June 2001 i went there to visit a friend i made during my 1996 mission trip to Baja Cali. There was a huge freakin cockroach in her home!!!!! sick sick sick!!! nasty!

Anyway, there are lots of other places in mexico to see.
