A review of this place: Right Spot
By Carolyn at The Kingston Guide
The Right Spot Restaurant is a Mum & Pop operation on Wellington street, just off of Brock. It’s a little dingy and dark, but that’s the way we like our diners. It’s actually a little bit sketchy at first glance, but don’t worry, you’ll feel transported into a Wes Anderson movie in a matter of minutes. The service is friendly, the coffee is free flowing, and the breakfast, honey, it’s served all day.
This spot is also darn cheap. How cheap? Well, it’s impossible to find an item on the breakfast menu for over $3, and they don’t scrimp on the portions. They do charge you extra if you want home-fries with your breakfast, but we suggest you splurge. They cost less than a loonie, and really, what can that even buy you these days.
Along with breakfast they serve up a mean lunch and dinner. The sandwiches are decent, and what they lack in awesomeness they make up for in cheapness. Most are about $2! You couldn’t steal them for that price. The hot sandwiches, however, are killer – and they come with gravy, fries, and a veggie side. They go well with pie. In fact, I’d suggest coming to The Right Spot for the pie alone. It’s always fresh, served with a dollop of icecream and it beats the crap out of any store bought pie you’ve ever had. This is the kind of stuff that the thigh master was invented for.
Additionally, they have a ‘lovely’ selection of potted plants for sale. I’m not sure if anyone has ever bought one. They look as old as the booths inside, but still, it’s nice to know that if the mood strikes for potted plant after pie, The Right Spot has you covered.
If this wasn’t enough, the hours aren’t set in stone. If you call ahead and make reservations, they’ll stay open late just for you. It kind of makes you feel like a regular Colin Farrell.
If homey service isn’t your style and you’d rather scarf your grease in bed, they offer takeout.
We recommend: The pie.
