Kota Bharu aka: Kota Baru, Kota Baharu

not currently coz now im in russia doing medicine for 6 years. so this is an islamic city, like they say, but not that different with any other cities in malaysia. the people are friendly, nice food, a bit crowded, and full or folks’ handcrafts. there are some beaches here, where ppl go during weekends, and urm, nice food.

I remember eating in a kind of outdoor food court here where they had great food, and my dad got all high and mighty because the restaurant wouldn’t let him drink his beer out of their glasses (because it was not halal for the other customers to subsequently use his glass I guess). I don’t remember much else of this place because it was 1989 that I went there, but I remember it was nice :)

I only spent about 4 nights and I wished I can go north as near as Thailand border, where all the natural attractions lie there. I read newspaper yesterday and it was noted about kuala krai (if I’m not mistaken) and its bustling market selling Ramadhan delights. You can see alot of the original old style shop houses here. The high tech development hasn’t entirely grown in east coast, so if you are truly kind of metropolitan people this city is may not be your place of interest.
