Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I am from London,Uk but I lived in Australia for 5 years before somehow ending up in the North of Japan in Sendai. I have many japanese friends thanks to my time in Australia and they all said that Sendai was a nice place to come and live for a while and now that I am here they are not wrong. Sendai is a bit nippy in the winter but compared to other parts of Japan it does not get as much snow.

There are many festicals in Sendai such as the famous Tanabata festival and The Jazz Festival and in December the trees of Jozenji St are all lit up in lights.

The people of Sendai are also mostly all friendly and although a lot of people don`t speak so much English they are usually keen to practice what they do know.

Sendai is also known as the city of the trees and it is no surprise that the area has a lot of nature. If you want to escape the city there are many hot springs around and mountains and parks too.

Basically a good place to live or visit :)

Sendai is a wonderful city to walk around in, down the big shopping districts of Clis Road and Ichibancho, off into the parks down the river, ZA MAARU at Nagamachi-Minami Station, the sports teams, festivals like Tanabata… Indeed, worth visiting; though it does get a bit nippy in winter.

Unexplored northern Japan  — 3 years ago

    Worth visiting!

Sendai is part of the Tohoku region about 2 hours north of Tokyo by Shinkansen. Very few foreign visitors make it this far north, but it is a very beautiful part of Japan, with excellent skiing, hot springs, and much wider open areas to wander around in. Sendai is the largest city in the north, and is home to a rising metropolis coming into its own as a destination.
