Not worth visiting!
How this place changed my life
I arrived in Taiyuan in February 2005 and have lived here for a year and a half. Taiyuan is not really a place to visit unless you’re wanting to see a few of the famous local places like Jinci Temple or Pingyao. Those coming to Taiyuan should definitely try and visit Wutai Mountain, which is so beautiful. I’ve learn’t many things while living in Taiyuan, and have no regrets about living here.

My Hometown
My parents are living there, and I don’t leave this city until I’m 25.

Well...
Taiyuan itself is, sadly, not really worth visiting. It feels old and somewhat polluted (even by the rather low standards set by other chinese cities). However, several places outside of it are quite nice and the provinces (Shanxi province) vinegar is great.
Pingyao, an old walled city, and Jingci, a temple/palace sort of complex are both great.

"Want" to go to Taiyuan? Well...
I AM going to Taiyuan. To visit in-laws. I am told by those who know that no one really “wants” to go their. Oh well, I’ll have fun anyway, I’m sure.
