Shantou aka: 汕头

I visited Shantou to teach English to children at a high school for a weekend and I was left with a very deep impression. I’m not sure if it’s good or bad though. Answering the questing of whethering or not Shantou was worth or not worth visiting is hard. I haven’t been able to process all my thoughts together yet. As modern as they’ve become you’ll still find place of extreme poverty and then turn the street corner to a brand new luxury apartment. It defintely brought me back down to earth and made me realize how spoiled I am. The best experience, besides teaching the students, was climbing the mountain near the school. The view from up top was simply breath-taking. The people and food were awesome and maybe I’ll go back next semester to teach again.
