Chill place to spend the day by LWood2277

I was here for my birthday one year. Cool place to walk around. You can see everything pretty much in a day. Maybe two if you just want to chill. I highly recommend the Hilton here. We had a view of Cliffords Tower from our window and the staff went above and beyond to make my birthday special.

I traveled here for a work conference. It is a beautiful city. It is a nice train trip from London and it was great to get out of the crazy big city. The York Minster is enormous and amazing. The city center is quaint and charming.

Wander through The Shambles, stroll along the medieval city walls and visit York Minster, the second largest Gothic cathedral in Europe. And when you get tired, enjoy some tea and cake at the York branch of Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms.

Second city - once by David Cross

York was the second city of England in medieval times and it could be regarded as Capital of the North until the industrial revolution. In terms of places worth seeing, it should still be regarded as Capital of the North!
