Guildford
Worth visiting!
Rather – yes. I emigrated here from North Wales many years ago. Bit of a culture shock experience, but I’m over it now and really like the place. Guildford’s a pretty place…
It’s pretty close to London (40 mins on the train)
It’s full of pretty people (honestly, they are)
It’s pretty much in the middle of the country side – good for walking and mountain biking
It’s pretty safe day or night
It’s sunny pretty much all the time (well, it feels like it compared to North Wales)
Not bad really – ah, that’s what it’s missing. It’s not REALLY anything. You’d have to go somewhere else for that…

A nice place to live, especially given its proximity to London, but not the most riveting place to visit. Picturesque, lively high-street, a nice town to walk around in. Castle ruins, Lewis Carroll landmarks, and Pilgrim’s Way are definite highlights.

I lived here for a few months, nice suburban type town, not really a vacation destination though. Great high street.

Oh yeh. Guildford is a very nice place with plenty of excellent shops selling you evrything you could ever want to buy, plus a lot more. It also has an incredible range of food- be it American, Italian, French, Chinese or Thai.
Beyond the entertainment side of the town it also has a castle, which although slightly old, is pretty interesting.

Drive (don’t walk!) up the Mount to the little church, where you’ll find Lewis Carroll’s grave. Also be sure to visit the lovely castle ruins while you’re in town.
