Basingstoke

My last visit was technically the first time I visited this place. I was born here, but I was adopted when I was 5 weeks old, and lived in Bath, Hereford, and various other places for a couple years before moving to Atlanta, Georgia when I was almost 3. I made a trip to Basingstoke, several years ago, to see the place that I was born, but it was only a quick stop, and I didn’t get to look around much. So I’d like to return to Basingstoke some day soon, and show my wife where I was born. I’m also trying to search for some of my biological family in the area, but that’s another story. :)

hey, someone has to!

I’m going to feel somewhat traitorous saying this, because Basingstoke is the town that nurtured me for the first 22 years of my life or so. But it’s probably not worth visiting – I just can’t think of what you’d do as a tourist in Basingstoke. I love returning there to visit my family and friends, but it’s not so much about the place.

If you know people there, you’ll find plenty to do while you’re visiting them. But don’t go as a tourist – there’ll be nowt to do.
