Urban planning  — 2 weeks ago

MK is one of the many “New Towns” created to cope with the growing population, and probably the most (in)famous. My first bewildered impressions when I first visited years ago were of the many pedestrian walkways and underpasses, the grid layout of the roads and how much space there seemed to be.

My husband’s brother and sister-in-law live near here, so we went there for shopping.

A review of this place: (One of) my hometown(s)!  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I spent the most influential years of my life in MK (teenage years), so my perspective is probably a little out of whack with others that live or visit there as adults. Last time I visited my family still in MK was 2002, so I will probably also be quite out of date.

Milton Keynes gets a lot of flack from other Brits, but few have been to it. It isn’t San Francisco, but it is also not the worst place ever (aka Luton).

But if you want to live in a decent sized town near London that has a good amount of diversity considering its size, you could do a LOT worse than Milton Keynes!

For those that want to visit for tourism, it might be not up your alley and the concrete cows are definitely NOT worth visiting Milton Keynes exclusively for! However, those interested in urban planning would get a lot out of visiting the modern designed town.

Also those interested in WW2 history can visit Bletchley Park where some historians believe the war in Europe was actually won.

We went tubing and snowboarding at Exscape. The indoor ice slope is a blast!

Not staying here now  — 2 years ago

...as I couldn’t find anywhere so am staying in Luton though of course I will be in Milton Keynes on the 11th June for the Bon Jovi. I won’t get much chance to see much if any of MK but I plan to come some other time too :O)

Need somewhere to stay  — 2 years ago

It is harder than I thought as everywhere is booked up for the weekend of concerts by bon Jovi.
I need to be in the centre as I have never been there before and will be there alone so I need to try and get somewhere.
I’m not willing to pay the really expensive prices though!

    June 9th - 11th  — 2 years ago

I will be on Milton Keynes on those dates as the Bon Jovi concert has been changed from Wembley Stadium to Milton Keynes Bowl so I am happy. Very happy, so happy that I am bouncing round the room :O)

Still would like to go  — 2 years ago

Summer 2006 would be good and when I visit my friend in Coventry it will be easy for me to pop down to MK :O)
