Best four days of my life! by Hambam2

The buzz in this city is a grat mixture of relaxed and fun! The waling tour although fairly simple is made seamlessly brilliant sheerly beacause the guide was so nice and funny! :) The place is full of ‘nice’ people you can’t help but be nic to! Watch out for racism though, as it does happen there!!

A feast of science, sights, and hiking by Kiri Wagstaff

I spent a few days in Edinburgh in March 2010, having an absolutely fabulous vacation. It was often rainy and cold, but that didn’t diminish my enjoyment of the delightful hiking just outside the city (I highly recommend climbing Arthur’s Seat!). This is truly a geologist’s mecca, with Hutton’s Section, the dramatic perch of Edinburgh Castle atop a volcanic neck, and more. The bus service is excellent and makes it easy for a tourist to get around. The old buildings are a feast for the eyes. Some of my favorite places were the Writers’ Museum, the National Library, the Industry and Empire section of the National Museum (trains and engines and looms and machines, oh my!), and Parliament (you can walk inside!). I also had the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten at the World’s End Pub.

Go to the Mitre Bar! Best food in Scotland! by LWood2277

Edinburgh has some amazing architecture & great food. Out of the whole UK I loved the food in the Mitre Bar. Best fish and chips, and a local dish called Cullen Skink. The name does not make it sound good but I was very pleasantly suprised when I tasted it. Try the 12 year old Balvanie if you want a good local whiskey. We also took a bus tour of the Scottish Highlands from here, including a boat ride on Loch Ness. The highland are gorgeous. If I had it all to do over again, I would spend a day or two in Edinbourgh and the move on to Inverness. Gorgeous up there. Lots of sheep!
