Why I want to go to this place  — 3 months ago

I just saw history channel special about Robert Louis Stevenson, and how his hometown Edinburgh affected Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Edinburgh seems like a fascinating place—especially the underground. The city is so old, and it has been rebuilt and added on to so many times. We don’t really have an equivalent here in the States. I really hope I get to see Edinburgh for myself someday!

Edinburgh has a rich and extremely violent history. it seems like they used to hang people on every streetcorner. haha… it’s a beautiful city! take a tour down the alleyways (they call an alley a “Close”) and you will literally walk into the dark ages!

Lots of history, quaint cobblestone paths, excellent shopping, and it didn’t even rain when we were there!

Worth visiting!

I studied in Edinburgh for two months, and it was easily the best summer of my life. It was festival season, and if you can handle crowds well, I highly recommend visiting in the month of August! The Festivals were an incredible experience. I was there to study literature, but I learned so much about Scottish history and culture, and feel that it’s a culture in which I really feel at home. I have started learning Scottish Gaelic, and hope to eventually become fluent. And someday, when I can afford to do so, I’m going to go back.
