in the daylight was over the weekend, i went shopping and it was amazing, and the nightlife is awesome too, 5th Ave is a really great indie club, i totally loved my entire manchester experience :)

Just a travel tip. Don’t forget to bring your camera with you and see to it that you are prepared with your camera(charged batteries). I went here last September, one weekend during my 2-week job-related training in West Yorkshire. It was such a beautiful place! Too bad, my camera went off just 3 days before I came here so I went to Manchester with my camera phone.

After spending the best part of 19 years in my back-water home town, I went to uni here.

I was blown away by the 24/7 attitude it has, always something going on, gigs, sport, festivals of some type – It was an eye opener for me to nopt have to worry about everyone knowing you – It was nice to walk from home to the city and not see anyone I knew…

5th avenue is one place that has etched itself on my grey matter – 50p a beer, good music and some nice rock chicks!!! It was this fine city that made me realise that I didn’t want to do what I was doing at uni, so I left and now I’m doing what i love and I haven’t looked back – I’ve al;ready gone and played there and that was fantastic – Like Liverpool, the locals have a fine grasp on what is good music.

I recommend checking out Deansgate, the gay village and f course, The Trafford centre – avoid Old Trafford and Eastlands.

I was born here but my family emigrated to Canada when I was 3. I’ve been back several times and have been able to see another side to this working class town. Any music fan needs to see Manchester to appreciate how struggle has influenced some of the best bands of our time. Granted, the Hacienda is gone and the rave scene is not what it was 10 years ago but there is something about this city that continues to inspire. It may not be pretty but it is real.

weekend in manchester. we stayed in and wathced tv. oh…and watched the game at the pub. not old trafford. the local pub!!! crap!

Best cakes are on Wilms… wims… the curry mile at the Pink Garlic. Believe me these are great!

kind of a nasty place. in five days here I saw a huge brawl at a food court between 50 to 60 teen age kids, a group of hooligans chanting nasty things together, drunken young adults puking in the streets in mass on friday night, scantily glad gross girls in the streets and people using manchester as their personal bathroom a few times. yah…. I mean, I’ve been to boston, paris, NY and many other big cities, but they have a little more class. this place is nasty. please tell me there are places worth checking out. liverpool was at least pretty cool and had some culture but this place is just a trendy soulless grey city.
