Alcalá de Henares

It’s only a half-hour away from Madrid by bus (they leave from Avenida de America bus/subway station). The historic downtown area is a relaxing walk and there are plenty of nice places for tapas or lunch. If you’re doing instense touristing in Madrid, this trip will be good for you; remind you that you’re on vacation. That’s why I like going there on Sundays, it’s an extra dose of chill.

A friend was living here when I was studying abroad, and it’s a nice city to visit, especially for Cervantes fans. Also, it’s an easy distance from Madrid for day trips.
