Almería

I went here many years ago on holiday with my Mum. It was a nice two week holiday spent swimming in the sea, lounging by the swimming pool and sunbathing but on the last day the bad luck which rained down on us was just unbelieveable.
Firstly I got the spines of some poisonous sea urchin stuck in my heel whilst swimming in the sea. We went back to the apartment where we were staying to find my Mum had locked us out sealing the keys INSIDE the apartment! We went to get a spare set of keys from reception but as we were on the seventh floor we decided to take the lift (elevator) down. We got in to the lift and three people with heavy suitcases got in after us. We pointed out that the lift was overloaded but they did not care and next news it crashed down three floors, ending up stuck between two floors. Luckily nobody was hurt and we all managed to crawl out of the lift through a small gap in the doors. To say it was the worst holiday ever would be putting it mildly but it was not the fault of Almeria which is a very pretty resort.I have a phobia of lifts (elevators) even all these years later.
I guess it was Friday th 13th or something!

A short holiday, March 2006: it was amazing (people on the beach, if you like fish, it’s a paradise, if you like wine, go to Almería, if you like shops, go to this place!). I’m planning to go the end of May again. I guess that’s a clear “YES, I LIKE this place” :)
