Santander

There’s just so much in the one city. It’s very authentically Spanish, although its had much Western influence since its beginnings. There are many things to do though.

Plaza Cana Dio has all the bars and nightlife. Going dowtown to Ayuntamiento gives you at least 30 different shops with millions of rebajas (sales). Going uptown gets you to the beaches, which surround the town on all sides. There is the Peninsula de Magdalena, which has a castle, a zoo, and park, in which there are actual penguins! Really cute. :) The beaches constantly have activities, like surfing and hang gliding. Also, the ice cream is delectable, because its made slightly different from its American cousin.

Overall, amazing fun! :)

most of my family lives in santander…i visited last summer from new york…its beautiful, awesome stores, a KILLER beach, seriously…nice people…good food…seriously an awesome beach…starts with an s…santorino? i recommend it without a doubt.

He estado en Santander en Agosto del 2006 durante mis vacaciones. Me ha parecido una ciudad encantadora. Os lo recomiendo.

Came here on the ferry from the UK, the sea was rough, kept sliding out of bed but that was kind of fun. Santander is nice place, it was rainy when we went though but still good.

everybody goes to santander on summer because its 2 or 3 hrs away from here! so every summer u already know where to find me, hah!

This is where the ferry from the U.K. to Spain takes you. There are trains from Madrid, too. In 1994, my wife and I took the train from Madrid to Santander on our way to visit friends who were living in a small town east of Llanes, the name which escapes me.
