Eindhoven

I came here for love, and had not a clue of the place. Now I live here and Eindhoven is a very nice small city to live and visit.

For non-party people Philips museum worth visiting.
Stratumsein street is full of bars, pubs, disco, you may easily pass several nights there.
The technical university is big and strong. Very good place to do you master or start a PhD if your major is math, computer science, chemistry and so on.
It is 1 hour 20 minutes by train from Amsterdam.
Check ryaniar website to find flights from Eindhoven to Barcelona, Madrid, Milan, etc.

The best city in all of the world!!

I loved visiting Eindhoven. It was where I went to get away from my job working in Helmond at a clothes hanger factory. I was representing a Scottish company that had made a machine vision guided pick and place machine.

I was the control engineer that wrote the software for the machine. And because of some problems with the machine, I spent nearly six months there.

Whilst there I came to really like the Dutch. They are really friendly, unpretentious people.

Eindhoven isn’t known as a big tourist trap, its known as a dirty, industrial city. Who’d want to go there? Me.
I stayed in Eindhoven a few years ago when I went to the Dynamo festival in Nijmegen. It’s a great place to wander round at any time of day or night. There are lots of great bars and you can sit out on a terrace and have a drink with the locals. Lovely on a warm summers night.

this week there’s much to do. Dutch design week just started, so lots of creative people in Eindhoven, including me ;) We have “stratumseind” which is a street with nothing else than bars and clubs for all the partypeople, on queensday we have loads of techno on several locations in the centre. For dinner i can recommend “dommelstraat” which is close to central station and is full with restaurants from irish food to mexican… My hotspot is “de Effenaar” on saturdaynight and on nights when there’s a concert i want to go to.

I simply have to come back!

I spent several weeks in Eindhoven in the late 90s during a project for Phillips Medical Systems. Very walkable, much to do, with effortless rail access into Germany, Belgium and France for weekend trips.
