Bergamo Alta, very beautiful, a little bit smoggy when you look out over the countryside. Take a walk all around the streets it is fasticanting, filled with history, amazing buildings and even more interesting people.

I was lucky enough to stay in Bergamo for a month while studying at the university. It was amazing!! My tips: Walk everywhere and explore everywhere! Try all the local specialties (especially casconcelli). Take some day trips to Trezzo Sull’Adda and Lago D’Iseo. Take the time to go the highest point in the city and observe the view. Oh, and watch a football game if you can! Forza Atalanta!

I spent a week in Bergamo and had a great time. It was a great place to get a sense of Italy without the more tourist-oriented atmosphere of Venice or Rome. Wonderful restaurants. The upper city is a great place to walk and relax. I would defintely go back.

Far and away my favorite city in Italy – it seemed like it would be really nice if there was a way to skip right over Milan and just end up in Bergamo. And then on to the lakes…

Just outside of Milan, go to the Old Town, the rain bounces off the Square! Oooo, have ice cream for the café on the left! (as you look at the church)
