Piraeus

…going out to the islands is the only reason I’ve found to visit Piraeus. For that, though, it’s worth a visit – but I’d try not to stay too long.

ferry point and really nothing else, find out where your boat leaves well in advance because the place is huge and confusing.

useful to take ferries to other islands, but pretty much nothing else.

This is the port area of Athens, although not technically in Athens, it might as well be. I didn’t like Athens, and Piraeus wasn’t much better, but if you plan to travel in the Aegean on a big boat, this is where you will probably leave from (or at least we did).

There was a lot of construction when I was here (like Athens), of course that was right before the Olympics so I suppose it was to be expected and should be done by now.
