Bochum

i was here for a gig for my fave band THUNDER and the exhaust fell off my car – I called into a garage and despite me not speaking any German and the employees not speaking any English we managed to get my car fixed and back on the road – they wouldn’t even take any payment – excellent people and I’ll be forever greatful!

The planetarium is really cool. They do a show to Pink Floyd music. How awesome is that?

Take a look at my username, and my motivation for visiting Bochum is probably pretty clear. I am a lonely American Herbert Groenemeyer fan. I’ve studied German for 6 years (2 junior high, 3 senior high, 1 college), and this is my only use for it. I downloaded Live 8 Berlin just for the Herbert Groenemeyer section (even though his microphone was messed up). I’m going to Poland this fall, and I’m hoping very much that Herbie will be on tour so I can take a train to Germany and see him in concert. I’ve always wanted to meet other Herbert Groenemeyer fans, but I’m not confident enough in my German to post to fan boards. I do know the lyrics to “Bochum,” though, and I’d love to go to a Bochum soccer game to sing with the crowd!
