I went to Germany for a month w/ my school and we overnighted in Dresden. Parts were really pretty, and had a great art museum, but I think I was a little disappointed. I hope I can go back though and stay for a little longer to get a better feel for the place.

Omg I love Dresden. I don’t remember how often I’ve been there but I just love the history of it and how you go from modern tower blocks to the Frauenkirche etc. It’s beautiful although they destroyed alot with putting the new roof on to the station. It just looks absolutely rubbish.

Beautiful places to walk, fascinating museums, an incredible flea market and ice cream vendors EVERYWHERE.

I love this city, I always did. The only thing that makes me angry are the prices in the restaurants around the sights (of course they are expensive, because the tourists don’t know where to go) EVERYBODY go to the Neustadt, plenty pubs and bars, everybody’s gonna find something and the prices are better there, but Dresden is an expensive place.

I say Dresden is not worth visiting not because it is actually not worth visiting—I think every place is worth visiting—but because it probably isn’t worth visiting given the time constraints of one’s trip. Dresden was spread out and had few noteworthy attractions. I remember a wonderful Raphael painting in an otherwise dull art museum, a pretty river, a fantastic outdoor food market, and little else. Dresden seemed like a good place to live—visually nice, very peaceful—but not so much to visit. If you have lots of time though, it’s not a bad stop on the train between Berlin and Prague.
