A tip I have about this place  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

We went here for a day… it was mostly b/c I wanted to see the “end of the world” but it seemed like it had some cool things. First, the boat ride on Beagle Bay was cancelled due to the weather- supposedly, it’s amazing. Second, we went to the National Park and it was ok- very different that anywhere else I have been. I would suggest that if you go here to make sure you’re ok changing plans or doing nothing. It also seemed like the place to be if you’re a skiier or boarder but we didn’t have time for either. Coincidentally, we met 3 people in the first 10 min with broken wrists. If you’re up to chill and get away from it all and possibly get to see some beautiful things, this is the place for you. Personally, one day is about perfect.

A review of this place: What a top spot  — 2 years ago

I thought Ushuaia was one of the best places I went to on my ship. Everything is the Southernmost whatever in the world. I went on a catamaran up the Beagle Channel (free excursion from my ship) and Tierra del Fuego National Park. I also did the train ride at the end of the world. Great excursions.

The main shopping street is lovely. Lots of parillas and souvenier shops. Cheap and good. If you are looking for Columbia jackets head into the camping/mountain store on the main drag (Popples??). I picked up a great jacket (can take the inner jacket out…so 2 jackets in 1) for $180US (not titanium, but the next one down).
Legano Sur on the main drag is my favourite shop for t shirts. Good quality and cheap

    The casino is BIZARRE.

I also went horseriding. I will leave the name of the place at a later date.. It was great.

This place is the gateway to Antarctica.

sentir la paz en la frontera del silencio, que limita con la nada, al costado el mar.

se escribe Ushuaia, perdon pero no se como cambiarle el nombre

To get there by bus, go to Rio Gallegos. You must arrive in Rio Gallegos before 8:00 am. because there is only one bus and it leaves at 10:00 am. Most of the times, if you arrive in Rio Gallegos after 8:00, you probably will not get a ticket to Ushuaia and there is nothing to do in Rio Gallegos. The bus takes 14 – 16 hours from Rio Gallegos to Ushuaia and the scenery is amazing. It’s worth go there by bus, but when you leave Ushuaia, take an airplane.

this place is actually the bottom of the world…not only geographically but also in its landscapes and in its history. it used to be a town in wich they send prisoners from america so they couldn’t escape…
its really cold in winter and still cold in summer :)
the people are really really nice and it is not hard to get friendly with the inhabitants.
eventhough it is now more touristic than it used to be, the town is not only a tourists invaded place.
young and old will meet their expectations.
lots of activities are available ther:
-hicking to the top (or bottom for unexperienced or unguided people) of the glacier
-going to visit the country side (with a tousristic bus or alone)
    -going on cruises and excursions.
    -skate park
at night, ther are not many restaurents to go to but hotels normally offer a restaurent facilitie so u will nerver starve. then, it is possible to go to the only nightclub of the city.or to spend a wonderfull evening staring a this unbelievable southern hemispher sky…....
i highly recommend to speak a little of spanish in order to discover this little paradise a bit on your own…..
so pack now, and get ther, u wont be disapointed.
