Helena

The first time I was in Helena was 1979(?) for the full eclipse of the sun. My dad took us out of school and we drove from Colorado for the event. We slept on the floor of the living room of some friends of friends of my dad.

I remember stopping at the rest stop outside of Laramie, Wyoming and trudging through a snow canyon to get to the door. They’d carved out the statue of Abraham Lincoln, which is how I recognized it later.

It was also the first time I got to pet a cow. ;-)

It was a beautiful place to visit, despite the fact that it was on fire while I was there.

never spent the night, but I’ve driven through lots of times, seems like a pretty nice town, not too big, nice location, pretty views.

Lived there for 2 years. It’s cold. It’s dark. It’s annoying accents. If you’ve done something horrible and want to punish yourself, go to Helena, Montana.

Family lives there…visit them frequently.
