Garmisch-Partenkirchen

I arrived in Garmisch on 20 June 1990. I worked for the Armed Forces Recreation Center and loved every minute of it! The area is gorgeous, the people welcoming, and the food is outstanding! So many great memories and friends from Garmisch!

My husband loved the snow skiing, I loved the hiking and biking. The food was out of this world, and the people are very friendly.

I lived in Garmisch for 10 months while my boyfriend worked in town. It was an amazing town with plenty of culture and wonderful people.

It was nice. Cold and cozy, with lovely scenery. I hate German food, though. Even the Pizza Hut was too greasy. Thank God for our hosts, who had the decency to get me hooked on kiwi.

It’s a touristy little valley town with a few good bars… decent skiing… lots of U.S. Military… mostly people 45+ yrs old.

I love living in Garmisch. You can get a bit stir crazy after a while, but It just seems like an 18 month holiday! Plus you’re only an hour and a half from Munich. Bitchin’ views of the alps all over. Not to mention the skiing!

Went for a marriage retreat/family vacation. We all loved it! The kids had a great time and my husband and I had a great time. Beautiful downtown area! Lots of hiking trails too!

One of the biggest highlights of being a U.S. military family in Europe was our interior resorts throughout the continent. After my hubby got back from Iraq the summer of 2004, we took a trip down to Garmisch!

Bavaria is one of the prettiest parts of Germany, in my opinion, and Garmisch was just so wonderfully warm! Plus it was a great jump point for tours to Munich/Munchin and the castle—oh, I so can’t spell it! Neuschwistein?—they modeled Cinderella’s castle after!

I definitely recommend this destinataion!
