Oh No You Don't by Kulema

I live here and it sucks! You can’t get bread, milk, beef, chicken, eggs, etc. Every thing costs about $1000000, if you can even get it. You don’t want to come here you reslly reslly dont!

worth visiting post-Mugabe by grebjack

I was in Harare on my way out of the country at the end of a trip. I expected to be able to check out all these cool gardens, zoo, etc. near the bus station downtown, but when I got close, soldiers with assault rifles warned me off. Apparently, all these city facilities are actually within the grounds of President Robert Mugabe’s personal home, and for his safety, no one else can come enjoy them.

But, hey, except for the armed men and the crazy inflation, it was a friendly, pleasant city. With running, drinkable tap water, which made it seem oh-so-posh after Mozambique.

Harare is beautiful by Taffy Gotora

I have been getting Questions like whats the capital city of Africa, and what is the main language in Africa.well I would be more than happy to reply that Africa is a continent like Asia and Europe, unlike all the other continents it has about 54 countries with different languages, Governments, different cultures but slightly similar in a few things,SouthAfricans are the only people that speak Afrikans,I speak Shona and dont understand Zulu or Afrikans.Yes we do speak English cause its taught in schools and we speak English with most of our family and friends,We do go shopping, drive cars, eat in restaurants and go to the cinema to watch movies like everyone else and we read shakespeare, jane austen and other classis literature as well as literature in our own language. Please dont think we are different in any way,the only difference is the color of our skin and even though we might not have all the riches in the world and most people might not be wearing the same clothes or living in the same environment we are all human and we do feel and love life.By the way there are white, Asians, and other races in Africa born and raised and educated in Africa, just like there are black people in America and Asians in Australia born and raise there. Thanks for reading,Dont take this personal I am not trying to be rude but am just tired of all the negative publicity Africans are getting and this was the only way I could try to point out same facts to people. HARARE is a beautiful city with friendly people and is very safe..everyone goes to South Africa but south africa is crime infested and very unsafe but people always want to say bad things about Harare and my country Zimbabwe…we have political problems here just like Americans have with Bush imposing a war on them…Harare is safe and worth visiting!!!!
