Where to Stay: The Magic Bean , email: info@magicbeanquito.com
Such a friendly place, great restaurant too.
A more “posh” hotel (4 star) is the Reina Isabel , email: informes@hotelreinaisabel.com and it’s in the same district as Magic bean, so you can still eat there!

I have a friend who lives in Quito. I met him when he was an exchange student in high school, and I would really like to see him again. Plus, he says the place is totally bitchin’.

I lived in Quito for two years. Gorgeous landscape. Extreme poverty. Sometimes I will walk into some type of store that sells Andean clothing, and inhale- and it reminds me of being in the markets of Ecuador. If I close my eyes. And breathe.

I did volunteer work here, and worked with the natives who worked at garbage dumps… seeing how they lived day to day was shocking. These people were so poor, yet they seemed to be happy. We’ve got it really~ good in the States.

I have so many great memories from being in Quito. The food the laungues and the locals. One of my friends got hit on by a hooker, we went to a strip club where the girls were beaten, and we bought weed for $5 a bag. Loved it. We sang kareoke like we never had before.

Stayed in Quito while going to and from the Galapagos Islands. Went to the equator and stood with one foot in the northern hemisphere and one in the southern hemisphere.
