The Typhoon
Typhoon season generally encompasses most of the summer in Taiwan. In Taipei it can often seem like the city comes to a stand-still. The last time I was in Taiwan… I decided to leave my apartment during a typhoon. All I can tell you is: you need a rain coat, shoes you’re willing to get wet, and nice cool clothing (cuz it’s hot!)

I miss the bread store. I miss snacks shopping in the middle of the night. I miss 7-11. I miss the city lights. I miss seeing the people; walking on the street with various purposes. (yet still wearing nice clothes). I miss the sound of busy road; honking sounds of cars, sounds of barking dogs, sounds of people talking; casual conversation, fighting, whispering sweet nothings to each other, sounds of commercials, sounds of music. Even I miss shopping in the night markets!! I used to avoid night market because there’s too many people that my speed got slower by 50%, its so noisy, and I can easily got lost. Little I knew that I would be hoping desperately to be there later. I want to take the MRT, once again find my way to fun around Taipei city. I want to stand on the bus while its going and not holding on to anything as being said by my friend that it’s a one level higher of a skill compare to being able to stand on moving MRT without falling. I want to go to the game centre, watching a guy practice to play a specific game everyday while showing off to others. Most importantly, I miss friends that I made there!!!! I love Taiwan!!! Wo ai Taiwan!!!

My Mandarin was so sparse that it wasn’t as much fun being here as it was in Hong Kong.

A review of this place: Mmmm... markets...
Loved the markets and the cheap clothes. The food was great, but not as amazing as I had expected. The people were very kind, and there was a lot more english than I had imagined. Definately take a look at Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial and ximending for great clothes.
