Make sure to eat all the meats available: horse, marmot, camel, yak, goat, and so on. And if its a mammal, drink their milk too, fermented preferably!

It is worth visiting to get yourself oout to the grasslands to ride horses and stay in a yurt.
Not so much else here…the hidden treasures are out of the capital.

The city itself is quite unattractive, but it’s a necessary jumping-off place to the spectacular Mongolian countryside.

A place of outstanding natural beauty, where the harsh unforgiving climate can see a temperature change of 30 or more degrees in a single day. I visited briefly in the summer of 1992 when the government would not give us longer than a three day transit visa. I have a number of friends living and working in Mongolia. I hope to visit them before too long.

I’ve always wanted to go to Mongolia and now my brother is living there so here’s my chance.
