Worth visiting!
Try to get to one of the outdoor public geothermal swimming pools. Icelanders congregate there to socialise the way that Brits do in pubs. It’s a great experience :)

Go in the off season. Avoid the crowds and bring loads of money. You are going to need it!

I lived in Iceland for six years. The country and cities are beautiful. The people are friendly to the extreme and their sense of humour is wonderful, you smile a lot there. It is difficult to travel anywhere quickly at first, not because the roads are bad or the traffic is heavy, both are directly opposite, you travel slowly because you spend so much time taking pictures and admiring the scenery. I have a hard time adjusting to being “home” in the states. Iceland still haunts my dreams and I am “homesick” for it. I miss the country and the friends I made there. I have hosted Icelanders in my home here in the states and hope to return to visit Iceland again soon.
