I took a day trip to Tallinn from Helsinki. I only went to the old town. Tallinn is a beautiful city. I loved the old square and the many terrasses scattered around. Had a bowl of soup at one of the restaurants, where it turned out they served soup by the litre. The Dominican Monastery is worth a visit, if only for the old lady who speaks 3 words of english, but does her best to give you a tour (it’s not optional).
Go to restaurant Olde Hansa. Not to eat there (i didn’t like the food at all) but to have a few drinks. I can personally recommend cinamon beer and the spiced wines.
If you’re taking a day trip from Helsinki, do remember to be on time for the last ferry. It leaves very early (around 8 pm) and there won’t be another one until 1 am at night. I am speaking from experience. Unfortunately.over 5 years ago
