The first time I went to this place
I’m a pacifist so I liked the Room of silence in the Bradenberger tour. I also likes do:ner kebab. I’ve been to the zoo and saw marabu and tapir. I Like the souvenir called Berliner luft, the canned air of Berlin sometimes with a little organ upon. I also saw a shell of Buddha nut in some of boutiques. There I bought a daypack with the word Berlin written on squares of different colors and some stones of the Berlin wall. I was there in 2004 so the block monument for Jews wasn’t built but was started. I visited Reichstag and saw a cracked stone in the yard. Saw those special traffic-light men. I lived in the Copenick canoe club there I fed ducks with a pita that was bought in moscow 2 days ago. I lived on the upper floor of the canoe club house and opened and closed the window in the roof (which I’ve never seen before). I visited the volunteer festival (I traveled to Berlin as a volunteer) and tried potato salad with fried wurst.Traveled by U-bahn and S-bahn.

Huge second-hand shop?
Last time I was in Berlin, I found a huge second-hand shop by mistake. I can’t remember which street or train stop it was, but I do remember I’d originally been looking for a flea market (maybe Arkonaplatz?), and that the shop wasn’t far from the station. The shop was about five or six storeys, the top few storeys each being devoted to clothes of a certain era. Anyone know which shop it is, and where it is? I’d be grateful for any answers.

Why I recommend this place to visitors
Berlin now ranks as one of my favourite European cities. Lots of history, al fresco dining and very green with trees and parks everywhere. Plus the city transport system is excellent, with very good connections between the U-Bahn (underground metro system), the S-Bahn (overground rail system) and the trams (routes prefixed with “M”).
At the moment the city is football mad because of Euro 2008. Germany is in the semi-finals this week playing Turkey. There are huge flat screens up at many restaurants for people to follow the game. Great atmosphere!

What I want to do at this place
See what remains of the Berlin Wall. I still remember watching it coming down on TV 19 years ago (wow, that makes me feel old!).

Why I want to go to this place
I had plans for attending the International Trademark Association’s annual meeting in Berlin this year. It’s pretty much career-essential, since it’s the best (and for me only) way to meet your foreign associates. I was cut due to budget constraints, so auf wiedersehen Berlin.
