I was able to spend three days wandering through the streets and platz’s of Wien (Vienna to me). If you’re on a budget and want a quiet, tranquil place to stay, try the Palace Hostel. It takes about 25 minutes to get to the hostel from the city, but the view is unbeatable and the accommodation great. If you’re there during Christmas, I’d recommend the Rathausplatz Wienachtsmarkt and the apfel-punsch, the Schonbrunn Palace Wienachtsmarkt and a walk to the Gloriette during a sunset, and Stephansplatz in the evening. Stop into Demel on Kohlmarkt (right off the Michaelerplatz) for some sacher torte and tour the Spanish Riding School, home of the Lipizzaner horses. After that, if you’re into tours do either the Schonbrunn Palace or the Hofburg, but don’t do both because it’s just repetitive. If you’re looking directly at the front of the Staatsoper, on the left side of the building is the door for the standing room only tickets, and that line opens about 80 minutes before show time. Get a ticket, go and mark your spot in the area you choose, then head across the street to Aida for some coffee and a strudel before the show. Other than that, just walk around the city and enjoy the fact that every corner you turn is going to bring some fabulous architecture or a park dedicated to composers or a line of cafe’s, all perfect for an hour’s stop for coffee and cake. Also, a small tip for art lovers: The Kunst Wien Haus is not the same as the HundertwasserHaus, although they both are dedicated to Hundertwasser. I wanted the Hundertwasser but got the Kunst Wien and wasn’t too impressed. I would go back if I had the endless resources that are needed for such a trip.

Vienna is the second city I have chosen as one of the three best cities. Firstly Vienna is a not a really big towns, ther´s a little more than 1 million inhabitants in there. Another thing we can say about Vienna is that it is a central city, becuase it´s the Austria´s capital town, so all kind of wealth structures, work, health services are there. We can also mention the fact that vienna is a student city there not less than 18 universities and private school, which means it´s a very young city. It´s also a big cultural center, there is an opera, museum, etc. Vienna is organized like Zurich in terms of transportations with its buses, trains, trams, boats…

Vienna is the capital of Austria. Is a old city witch is historical point. It’s also a economic and cultural center. There are many parks there. The tourism and the transport is also very improuved in Vienna. For those reasons and others I think it should be interesting to know this city.

Vienna is the capital of Austria. Vienna is Austria’s primary city; with a population of about 1.7 million inhabitants, with the metropolitan the population is about 2.3 million of inhabitants. This city is by far the largest city in Austria as well as its cultural, economic and political centre. Vienna lies in the very east of Austria and is close to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. In 2001, the city centre was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Art and culture have a long tradition in Vienna, including theatre, opera, classical music and fine arts.
Vienna has an extensive tram and bus network – the tram network being third largest in the world. In the most populated areas of Vienna, public transport runs so frequently (even during off-peak hours) that any familiarity with departure timetables is virtually unnecessary. The convenience and flexibility of the public transport is in turn reflected by its popularity; 53% of Viennese workers travel to their workplace by public transport.During night hours, public transport is continued by the Nightline buses operating on all the main routes, generally every half hour. I don’t know very much all the east countries of Europe, so I would like to go to visit it, also Vienna.

I’ve never been to Vienna. It’s a cultural, economic and politic centre. In 2001 it was ranked the third best city to live as it is ranked today. It’s an old city with a History that seems to be quite interesting. Public transportation is very improved: you can go fast where you to go even if it is far from where you are. It has many parks and gardens and hosts many sporting events like the Vienna City Marathon. These are the reasons that I want to visit Vienna.

I like Vienna most for the monuments for the tourism and for the culture. There are many things to do like visit the historical places , etc…The rime rate is very low so you can walk on the street

My sister and I arrived in Vienna knowing little about what to expect. I normally like to research a place before arriving, but in this case I lost my notes. In the end, though, I think that added a lot to our experience, learning as we went. We got a lot of suggestions from fellow travelers, and tried delicious things at the Naschmarkt we may have missed. The Austrian Folklore Museum was one of my favorite museums we visited on the trip, and the exhaustive booklet describing the collection in English was especially nice.
