Street vendors and shopkeepers were on our back all the time. We got ripped off more than once. But hey, what can you expect in one of the most touristic towns of Peru?
In my own opinion, if you manage to keep the hasslers off your back, it’s a nice place.
PS - Tip for future travellers: on your flight Lima-Cusco, sit on the left side of the plane (and on your flight Cusco-Lima, sit on the right), the view is awesome!

The valley of Urubamba shows alluvial terraces in its thick soils where a strong population dedicated to agriculture is established. The Urubamba river, under 2000 m, has formed a deep and narrow canyon which reaches all its beauty close to Machu Picchu, showing a rare landscape of bends. Due to the diversity of soil altitudes, the region has a great variety of climates and landscapes, which have strongly influenced on agriculture and the distribution of population.

Cusco is awesome. There is a lot more culture here than Lima. Beware of what you eat though- our tour guide told us to only eat in the square. Unfortunately, we didn’t follow his advice and ate at the restaurant next to our hotel one night. My husband was sick for months with the South American form of giardia. Once we figured out what it was, the medicine for giardia cleared it right up. Don’t let that stop you from going though, because it is an amazing place to see.

Cuzco (a city) and Machu Picchu (ruins) are two very different places and quite a train ride between the two places!

A very beautiful city, mix of 3 cultures, pre-inca, inca, spanish. Now with the the tourists coming from all over the world, you meet very interesting people there. The scenery is really beautiful, the arquitecture gorgeous, the customs, and of course, you cannot miss Machu Picchu! The inca abandoned city. The first day, just take it easy, so that you are not affected by the altitude, but he next day, you body has become adjusted to it, you can go on sighteseeings, walking expeditions, etc. Really worth going, at least once in your life time. There is the Inca Trail for the young, healthy, strong and adventurous. Go, you will not regret it!
